In this introductory workshop, participants will explore the barriers that transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people encounter during the childbearing year, and what birthworkers need to know to challenge these inequities and improve outcomes for trans families.
This session introduces language and concepts for working with Queer and Trans clients, alongside practical tools for delivering gender-inclusive care. We’ll cover inclusive language, forms and documentation, systems-level advocacy, and approaches to pregnancy, birth, and infant feeding that center trans and nonbinary people’s experience.
Participants will leave with concrete tools, resources for continued learning, and a deeper understanding of how gender-inclusive care improves experiences and outcomes—not only for Trans clients, but for all families.
